  • About caren magill

Caren Magill is a blogger and communications specialist with expertise in media psychology and social marketing. She has a passion for inspiring prosocial behavior and human connection through media technology. The focus of Caren’s graduate research has explored how companies can harness technology to enhance employee subjective well being (aka happiness) and organizational commitment by combining theories in positive and organizational psychology with online communications strategies. Drawing on her background in marketing communications, her academic work and her love of all things high tech, she has a passion for creating corporate culture through digital storytelling and cascading it across a number of channels to build brand authenticity internally and externally.

In 2008, Caren was drawn to the entrepreneurial path after a 12-year career in corporate and strategic marketing with JDSU (JDS Uniphase), The TMX Group (Toronto Stock Exchange) and several venture-backed start-ups. While building a small business she embarked on a graduate degree in Media Psychology and Social Change, to further advance her interests in social innovation, brand influence and cause-based campaign strategy. After a successful exit from her company in 2010, she is focused on developing thought leadership in strategic internal communications, corporate social responsibility and cause-based marketing.

Preceding her Master’s degree, Caren graduated from York University in Toronto, Canada with a BA in Psychology. She is profoundly dedicated to causes that support and advocate animal welfare, environmental protection and social innovation in the areas of meaningful work and corporate responsibility. She lives in Los Angeles with her husband and two rescue dogs, coco and snickers.
